The 2016 Olympics goes to Rio de Janeiro

Everyone thought that South America would never get the chance to host an Olympics. THEY WERE ALL WRONG!

Friday, Oct. 2, 2009. This is definitely a historical date to all Brazilian people, because on that day, Rio de Janeiro got the 2016 Olympics. The amazing Brazilian carnival city of beaches, mountains and samba beat surprise all the competitors in a extraordinary campaign. Madrid, Tokyo and Chicago, were left behind. Brazil that has been seen as a danger country, will have the opportunity to show how much people discriminate and generalize the whole country just because of the slums and other sort of things that the population of Brazil have to live with. Chicago a very rich city was the first one to be knocked out. The U.S. president Barack Obama, gave all the support and did everything that he could to make Chicago's city the Olympics host. However, it did not work too good as everyone wanted. Chicago was eliminated because the city has not enough stadiums. The second eliminated was Tokyo, doing better than Chicago and following by the last city candidate Madrid.

"It is a time to address this imbalance," Brazil's president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, told the IOC's members before they voted. "It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country."

Yeeeiiiiiiii...I am so happy! I have been to Rio and the city is just AMAZING. Brazil... I will be there for sure to see this fabulous event and I think Rio will do an outstanding!
